Golf
Golfing in Aruba combines the challenge of constant trade winds and tropical sun with the wonder of desert beauty and sweeping Caribbean views.
Opened more than 65 years ago, the 9-hole Aruba Golf Club in Seroe Colorado east of San Nicolas was Aruba’s first golf course. Water hazards, sand traps, oiled sand greens, and an occasional passing goat make for a truly unique experience. Adventure Golf, a popular spot for family fun, is arguably the largest miniature golf course in the world.
At the Tierra del Sol Resort & Country Club, Robert Trent Jones II has created a striking, highly-ranked 18-hole PGA-approved course overlooking the magnificent northwest coast. The 6,811-yard championship course features a variety of tees and approach angles to accommodate golfers of all ages and abilities. Amenities include a spa and fitness center, clubhouse with pro shop and restaurant, and a master planned real estate community.
The Links at Divi Aruba, a 9-hole course just steps away from the beach, surrounds the luxury vacation villas at the Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort. Designed by leading architects, Litten & Viola, The Links maintains indigenous wildlife, soil and vegetation, and will ultimately create its own ecosystem. Offering play over water and beautifully landscaped lagoons, The Links is open to the public with preferred tee times for Divi guests and members.
Oliver Riding, Tierra del Sol's Head Pro, describes the tournaments held on the island. "In August, the Aruba International Pro-Am Tournament sponsored by the Aruba Tourism Authority and organized by Tierra del Sol attracts local teams as well as international teams hailing from such countries as Brazil, the Netherlands, Colombia, Argentina and the United States. The event has taken place in Aruba for more than ten years. An international KLM tournament takes place every October. About twenty local events are held throughout the year and are open to tourists. They include the Rotary Club Fundraiser, Caribbean Mercantile Bank Invitational, and the Wente Vineyards, Queen's Birthday, Valero Charity and local KLM Tournament."
